Metallics for Basel

Art Basel has landed! This is one of the biggest yearly events held here in Miami. It takes after Geneva’s Basel Art Festival and has become a pretty big deal with prestigious artists and art lovers coming in from all over the world. I love it because the city comes alive with fun, quirky, creatives everywhere with the fashion to match. There are few things I love more than to admire unique, original looks and styles all around me. I love it because it inspires and pushed me to go outside of the box and have FUN with clothing, because that’s what it’s all about, right?!

Here is a look I wore the other day to an outdoors event in the Art District. I bought these fab metallic bronze pants from a boutique called Touch Dolls (great online shop, also). You have to check them out if you’re into cost-friendly, trendy pieces. These pants were on sale for $20! The top is Cheap Monday and I purchased it at a New York sample sale for $5! This fabulous fringed out Rebecca Minkoff handbag was also a sample sale purchase at only $60! This total outfit was less than $100, hollaaa.

Color-Blockin’ Head to Toe

To know Zara is to love Zara. I find it pretty amazing that no matter what your personal style or budget, just about anyone can go into a Zara store and leave with something they love. I mean how many stores can you really say that about? They definitely know what they’re doing! Even the children’s clothing is to-die-for-cute. On my latest trip to Zara I left with an amazing pair of black skinny jeans (see last post) and this great blouse. I was attracted to it right away because of the unexpected semi-attached front black panel. Anything easy-to-wear with a little unexpected, quirky touch always catches my eye! Same reason I fell for these 6397 two tone pants. The black sweat-pant material in back makes them so super comfy! Another sample sale score from my trip to New York. :)

Sample Sales – A Bargain Shopper’s Dream!

It was so so nice to be in chilly New York for the weekend! It was a very short trip, but well worth it. I had been in dire need of a break from this November Miami heat wave. I would honestly say that half the fun was just going through my ‘winter clothes’ and putting actual layered looks together. I recently purchased this super yummy and fluffy faux fur vest ($35) from Nordstrom Rack and knew I had to bring it. I love vests because they are such great layering pieces with many styling options. I wore it with one of my favorite quirky vintage sweaters with an all- over panther print. I also recently found these skinny black jeans ($36) at Zara which fit like an absolute glove- if you’re in need of a black skinny, I highly recommend them!

So onto the highlight of my trip —> sample sales! As a true bargain addict, there is pretty much nothing I love more. For those of you that are not familiar, listen up! These sales happen when designers need to get rid of merchandise so they offer deep discounts (I’m talking at least 50% off) in order to make space for their new items. I went to the Rebecca Minkoff sale and one with various designers and was in discount-shopping heaven! I bought everything from a $50 pair of Rebecca Minkoff studded booties to a pair of 6397 jeans for $30 (originally $325). The only danger with these sales is that it’s hard to leave things behind when the prices are so good. The best sample sales are in New York so next time you’re in the city, do yourself a favor and look up what sample sales are going on! My go-to’s for sample sale info are racked.com and lazarshopping.com.

You can thank me later!
