Sample Sales – A Bargain Shopper’s Dream!

It was so so nice to be in chilly New York for the weekend! It was a very short trip, but well worth it. I had been in dire need of a break from this November Miami heat wave. I would honestly say that half the fun was just going through my ‘winter clothes’ and putting actual layered looks together. I recently purchased this super yummy and fluffy faux fur vest ($35) from Nordstrom Rack and knew I had to bring it. I love vests because they are such great layering pieces with many styling options. I wore it with one of my favorite quirky vintage sweaters with an all- over panther print. I also recently found these skinny black jeans ($36) at Zara which fit like an absolute glove- if you’re in need of a black skinny, I highly recommend them!

So onto the highlight of my trip —> sample sales! As a true bargain addict, there is pretty much nothing I love more. For those of you that are not familiar, listen up! These sales happen when designers need to get rid of merchandise so they offer deep discounts (I’m talking at least 50% off) in order to make space for their new items. I went to the Rebecca Minkoff sale and one with various designers and was in discount-shopping heaven! I bought everything from a $50 pair of Rebecca Minkoff studded booties to a pair of 6397 jeans for $30 (originally $325). The only danger with these sales is that it’s hard to leave things behind when the prices are so good. The best sample sales are in New York so next time you’re in the city, do yourself a favor and look up what sample sales are going on! My go-to’s for sample sale info are and

You can thank me later!

Casual in Flares

Mama’s going to NYC! It feels like it continues to get hotter and hotter in Miami so the cooler air and actual FALL FASHION are calling my name! Can’t wait to dust off some of my sweaters and jackets for a couple days! Did I mention I’m going childless?! :D Being a stay at home mom, these few and far in between moments of freedom are priceless!

Anywho, I continue trying to pretend that it’s not 90 degrees in Miami and have pulled out some of my (Miami) “winter” clothes. These Current Elliot flare jeans were a steal from Loehmann’s. This pant style is perfect for us petite girls because they can provide serious undercover height! The trick is to keep them long and wear your highest platform shoes underneath and voila, you’re 5 inches taller! The top is from Forever 21 and I seriously wish I owned it in every color! I love the comfort, and edge of the draping sleeve.

Can’t wait to share some of my NY looks soon!

A Mommy Must – The Shift Dress

I can’t say enough about my love for a good shift dress. By definition a shift dress is a looser fitting, non-hugging  shorter dress that hangs loosely from the shoulders. This makes it a must-have for the post-baby mom-bod and anyones else with a less than Victoria Secret silhouette. Being that my figure is naturally more squarish (and even more so post-pregnancy :| ), I have always loved a good boxy dress that shows off my better asset –> zee legs. I was pumped to find this hot little mock neck dress/tunic at Forever 21 for only $20! I love the mock neck because it adds a little cool factor to the otherwise simple style. I styled it here with my fab new Jeffrey Campbell platform boots (via Poshmark!) to lengthen my legs and added a pop of color with this burgundy floppy hat (thrifted for $4!).  This perfect mock neck dress/tunic is still available at Forever 21, but I’m guessing not for long! Added bonus- This piece will transition perfectly into Fall/Winter layering weather!

This whole outfit accessories and all was well under $100!
