A Mommy Must – The Shift Dress

I can’t say enough about my love for a good shift dress. By definition a shift dress is a looser fitting, non-hugging  shorter dress that hangs loosely from the shoulders. This makes it a must-have for the post-baby mom-bod and anyones else with a less than Victoria Secret silhouette. Being that my figure is naturally more squarish (and even more so post-pregnancy :| ), I have always loved a good boxy dress that shows off my better asset –> zee legs. I was pumped to find this hot little mock neck dress/tunic at Forever 21 for only $20! I love the mock neck because it adds a little cool factor to the otherwise simple style. I styled it here with my fab new Jeffrey Campbell platform boots (via Poshmark!) to lengthen my legs and added a pop of color with this burgundy floppy hat (thrifted for $4!).  This perfect mock neck dress/tunic is still available at Forever 21, but I’m guessing not for long! Added bonus- This piece will transition perfectly into Fall/Winter layering weather!

This whole outfit accessories and all was well under $100!

Pop of Color

As you can probably tell, I am not afraid of a little color! It seems like monochrome and neutrals have taken the lead in recent trends, and although I love me some neutrals, I could never have a closet void of CoLoR! Sometimes just a little pop of color is all I need and these bright pink satin Boutique 9 heels deliver just that. I love how putting on a classy bright shoe can transform a simple jeans and top into a sleek and sexy number. I’ll spare you all the inevitable rant about my love for shoes :)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their week!

PS Isn’t my little bun accessory cute? My hair is always in a bun so I keep trying to think of ways to make it look new and fresh! ;)

Vintage Vibes

Happy Monday! Hope the week is starting off right for everyone. I’m feeling the typical Monday morning sluggishness. We’ve had a pretty busy last couple of weeks with lots of visitors in town, which we love, but the action is catching up with me! My brother, Donovan Solis, was in town this past weekend from Atlanta. He is a producer for CNN en Espanol, and is extremely talented behind the lens, so you know I had to ask him to take a few shots for the blog! We started off by the bay behind my house then went to Wynwood for the monthly Art Walk. The whole colorful artsy vibe of this ‘hood inspired me to dust off this vintage dress that I hadn’t worn since before my pregnancy! I adore the print and fit of this dress. It has a great wide belt made of the same material as the dress, which gives a great natural looking sexy shape. Being that I have a boxier build this is a huge plus for me! The bold print speaks for itself so I went simple with the accessories just adding my favorite vintage hat and some fabulous Ferragamo heels.

How was everyone’s weekend?

How do you accessorize your favorite vintage dress?
