Happy Monday! Hope the week is starting off right for everyone. I’m feeling the typical Monday morning sluggishness. We’ve had a pretty busy last couple of weeks with lots of visitors in town, which we love, but the action is catching up with me! My brother, Donovan Solis, was in town this past weekend from Atlanta. He is a producer for CNN en Espanol, and is extremely talented behind the lens, so you know I had to ask him to take a few shots for the blog! We started off by the bay behind my house then went to Wynwood for the monthly Art Walk. The whole colorful artsy vibe of this ‘hood inspired me to dust off this vintage dress that I hadn’t worn since before my pregnancy! I adore the print and fit of this dress. It has a great wide belt made of the same material as the dress, which gives a great natural looking sexy shape. Being that I have a boxier build this is a huge plus for me! The bold print speaks for itself so I went simple with the accessories just adding my favorite vintage hat and some fabulous Ferragamo heels.
How was everyone’s weekend?
How do you accessorize your favorite vintage dress?

I have a job that requires me to dress down all week so my absolute favorite part of the weekend is dressing up!

If you’re like me, you’ve fantasized about having a friend your exact size and shape, with killer style and a closet full of beautiful designer dresses up for the taking. Well, fantasize no more! This may be a concept most of us have heard about… think Jennifer Hudson in Sex and the City 2 renting her designer handbags in lieu of dishing out thousands from her personal assistant wage… now translate that into designer dresses… And that is our new stylish best friend Rent the Runway. The website has hundreds of designer dresses to choose from for a special occasion, vacation, or event. It all seems simple enough: You choose your dress; they ship 2 sizes of the dress to your home within 2 days; you can keep it 4-8 days and then return it in prepaid packaging. The price range is from $50- $500+. And did I mention that they rent bridesmaid dresses?! I mean really, who has worn their bridesmaid dresses twice? If only I’d known this last year…
Bringing in the New Year in Despy! My mom is looking radiant in this NYE picture. She is wearing her newly purchased Vintage sequin top from Despy. Click here or the pic below for the same top in blue still in stock and only $35! I am wearing a high waisted vintage skirt with sequin detail on the waist. By tucking in a tube top of the same color, I dressed up the skirt by giving it the appearance that it’s a strapless dress. Happy New Year!
It’s been wonderful to see all the attention that Miami has been getting throughout the Art Basel week! I get proud and excited to see so many articles on Miami Art Basel all over Style.com, Elle.com, WWD.com and just about any other big fashion magazine site. I sometimes find myself having to stick up for my city; with all the talk of the shallow, plastic, materialistic Miamians. But I KNOW that Miami has a lot to offer culturally and otherwise and I love that others have the opportunity to see this as well through Art Basel Miami! Here are some shots from the weekend.

I drove to Orlando last weekend and arrived just in time to meet a serious cold front (serious meaning it got into the high 50s- 60s). I was a bit unprepared since its been in the 80s and even 90s here in Miami throughout the week. Luckily I took a purple Tibi New York cropped fall jacket I recently purchased. I bought it on a super sale paying $45 when it was originally priced over $300! Steal! I paired it with a fox fur neck collar that I recenlty thrifted. These vintage pieces are a fabulous way to glamorize and revamp any light jackets or sweaters for the upcoming chilly months!

This is one of my favorite newer vintage tops. It has metallic gold threaded into it adding a lovely look-at-me sheen to it! To add an updated twist, I wore it with a spicy mini and platform heels. I like to balance out the long-sleeve covered-up tops with smaller skirts for night-time. I wear conservative clothes all week for work and like to show some skin for a night out! Since I am an avid fan of COLOR, I added some red lips for a ‘lil something something to my otherwise black/gold outfit.
