A Mommy Must – The Shift Dress

I can’t say enough about my love for a good shift dress. By definition a shift dress is a looser fitting, non-hugging  shorter dress that hangs loosely from the shoulders. This makes it a must-have for the post-baby mom-bod and anyones else with a less than Victoria Secret silhouette. Being that my figure is naturally more squarish (and even more so post-pregnancy :| ), I have always loved a good boxy dress that shows off my better asset –> zee legs. I was pumped to find this hot little mock neck dress/tunic at Forever 21 for only $20! I love the mock neck because it adds a little cool factor to the otherwise simple style. I styled it here with my fab new Jeffrey Campbell platform boots (via Poshmark!) to lengthen my legs and added a pop of color with this burgundy floppy hat (thrifted for $4!).  This perfect mock neck dress/tunic is still available at Forever 21, but I’m guessing not for long! Added bonus- This piece will transition perfectly into Fall/Winter layering weather!

This whole outfit accessories and all was well under $100!

Hippie Vibes

How is it seriously November in a couple of days?! We’re well into Fall, but Summer weather is still in full effect in Miami. Having grown up in freezing cold Minnesota I feel bad complaining about the heat, but come on! 90 degrees in November? I’m tired of getting an instant sweat ‘stache the second I step outside. I miss sweaters! Scarves! Layers! Although those things are pretty much still out of the question, I did rebel by bringing out this long sleeved shirt from Zara the other day. This shirt is made of a really soft, but heavier cotton and I love the boho-hippie vibe of the fringe on the sleeves. That same hippie vibe inspired me to pair it with my YSL mega-platforms. I feel like a bonafide giant in these tall suckers and I enjoy every second of it :)

Now off I go to play in my closet and figure out tomorrow’s Halloween costume!

Wishing everyone a safe, fun and HaPpY HaLloWeEn!!

Secret Weapon

Dressing well has always been a secret weapon of mine. It’s incredible how much of an inner boost a great outfit can provide. The day we took these shots I was feeling super under-the-weather (struggling with a massive cold). When I threw this outfit on, I was instantly confident that, at least, I looked better than I felt and I could ‘fake it ’til I make it’!

Part of my arsenal this day was this bold vintage sweater. It’s no secret that I love vintage clothing. I love the quirky, unique, unexpected touch that vintage can bring to a look. This sweater is a thrifted piece that provides all those elements. Since the sweater is a bit bulky, I paired it with a lighter bottom. I adore these Elie Tahari leather shorts with lace trim and thought they added the perfect soft touch to the bolder top.

Until next time! Stay heathy!
